Recipe for fried turkey breast

Is it the end of the month? Are you short on time? Or is it just one of those days when you feel extra lazy and unmotivated?

Fear not – here you have a remarkably easy and dirt-cheap dinner ready in less than 15 minutes! So go ahead and skip the pasta with ketchup.

When a friend and I both moved out of our parents’ homes in the early 2000s, culinary excellence was not a top priority. I had learned the basic techniques of traditional home cooking from my grandmother, and my roommate had barely set foot in a kitchen before.

As students, our finances were tight, and the local supermarket had fresh turkey breast for 34 DKK/kg every other week, so this dish quickly became a favorite in our small apartment!

It typically consisted of 125 grams of dry pasta, 1 onion, 1 clove of garlic, and 400 grams of turkey breast. On a luxury day, the dish was enhanced with either red bell pepper or a splash of cream, which I’ve also included in this recipe.

Today, we live in different parts of the country, so when he invited himself over for dinner at my place, it was the perfect opportunity to introduce our wives to this dish, giving them a sense of what we lived off 15 years ago – and what turned us into the big, strong men we are today 😉

Turkey breast is something that can easily become dry and bland, but with this preparation method, it has never gone wrong for me.
