Recipe for salt-baked potatoes
A wonderful alternative to the usual boiled potatoes on the dinner table. These delicious salt-baked potatoes are perfect for upgrading traditional Danish dishes and trying something a bit different for everyday meals.
They also make an excellent bite-sized snack for ice-cold beers or cocktails. For example, try serving them at your next summer garden party—they can easily replace the typical chips or pretzels that often end up on the snack table.

Salt-baked Potatoes
Ingredients
- 400 gram Potato New Potatoes
- 25 gram Salt
Instructions
- Take a pot and fill it with water.
- Add salt and bring to a boil.
- Put the potatoes in the boiling water.
- Let the potatoes cook until just tender. Check the potatoes by pricking them with a sharp paring knife.
- Next, pour off most of the water from the potatoes - leave about 1½ cm. of water in the pot.
- Continue boiling and turn the potatoes until the remaining water has completely evaporated - be careful not to puncture the potatoes in the process.
- Let the potatoes sit on low heat in the now dry pot, turning them a couple of times as they gradually take on color and wrinkle a bit.
- Turn off the stove and let the potatoes cool slightly before serving.
- As you can see, the potatoes get a thin and fine salt layer on the outside. They are excellent as an alternative to chips, for example.
