Recipe for cowboy toast
Deluxe edition of a cowboy toast with freshly ground, dry-aged beef, homemade toast bread, and plenty of sautéed, soft onions – this is food for real men (women are also welcome to join)!
I had ground the meat for the cowboy toast myself, and it was my own dry-aged beef that I used. It’s luxury on a level that some might call indulgent, but why not elevate something that already tastes good to an even higher level?
The cowboy toast is suitable for lunch, dinner, and midnight snacks – and everything in between.

Cowboy toast
Ingredients
- 100 gram Ground Beef
- 5 gram worcestershire sauce (English sauce)
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1 pcs. Onion
- 20 gram Butter
- 5 gram Balsamic Vinegar or another type of vinegar
- 4 gram Sugar
- 2 slices Bread
- 5 gram Ketchup
Instructions
- Peel the onions, halve them, and cut them into thin slices.
- Heat a pan and add the butter.
- When the butter has sizzled away, add the onions. Fry them for a couple of minutes.
- Add balsamic vinegar and sugar and allow the onions to caramelize over not too high heat - it takes about 10 minutes.
- Cut 2 relatively thick slices of sandwich bread. I used our own homemade, see the recipe here.
- The meat was dry-aged (the process can be seen in the video under the recipe).
- Season the meat with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Place one slice of bread on a piece of baking paper on a baking tray.
- Lay the meat on the bread in a thin layer, reaching all the way to the edges of the bread.
- Place the tray in the oven and bake the bread with the meat for 5 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) with a fan.
- Take the bread out of the oven and spread ketchup on the steak. Then add the fried, soft onions on top and also place the last slice of bread on.
- Cook the sandwich in the toaster for about 7 minutes, so the bread is crispy and the meat is properly cooked.
