Recipe for cake in microwave

Chocolate cake baked directly in a paper cup in the microwave.

I made these fun cakes for teaching a 6th-grade cooking class.

I was invited to conduct a “Masterchef event” focusing on equipment and molecular gastronomy.

An easy cake made directly in a paper cup and in the microwave. It was a big hit among the kids.

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 gram Vanilla Sugar
  • 100 gram Sugar
  • 2 pinches Salt
  • 5 gram Baking Soda
  • 96 gram Wheat Flour
  • 24 gram Cocoa powder
  • 180 gram Milk
  • 60 gram Butter
  • 60 gram Chopped chocolate
  • Tivoli crumb

Instructions

    1. Melt the butter in a bowl in the microwave.
    2. Mix all the dry ingredients (except chocolate chips and sprinkles) together in a separate bowl.
    3. Then stir in the milk and the melted butter into the dry mixture.
    4. Add the chocolate chips and stir.
    5. Grease the paper cups with a little fat (butter, oil, margarine, or cooking spray/baking spray).
    6. Divide the batter into the paper cups.
    7. Place two paper cups in the microwave at a time and heat them for 2 - 2½ minutes.
    8. Repeat with the remaining paper cups.
    9. Sprinkle some party sprinkles on top of the finished cakes.

Notes

The cake can easily be made gluten-free by replacing the wheat flour with, for example, red Finax gluten-free flour mix.
