Recipe for teenage mutant ninja turtles buns
Birthday buns are a surefire hit for a children’s birthday party.
But why not make them a bit more unique and fun, especially since it’s a special day for your child?
My Frederik loves the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles figures, so simple tricks like food coloring and ribbons are enough to excite him.
For example, a pink food coloring can make them look like Peppa Pig, and in this way, there are virtually no limits to what you can do with this recipe.

Ingredients
- 400 gram Milk Lukewarm
- 50 gram Yeast
- 30 gram Sugar
- 3 gram Salt
- 90 gram Oil
- 800 gram Wheat Flour
- 2 gram Paste Color Green
Instructions
- Crumb the yeast in the milk and add sugar, salt, and oil.
- Mix the dough in a mixer and pour in a bit of flour along with the food coloring.
- Then add the flour until the dough is smooth but still a little moist.
- Let the dough rise for 20 minutes.
- Form into 16 buns and let rise for another hour.
- Bake at 225 degrees Celsius (437 degrees Fahrenheit) in a regular oven for about 10-12 minutes.
- Tie a silk ribbon around the bun and attach eyes.
- My eyes were store-bought, but they can easily be homemade:
- They can be made with first a white blob of icing and then a small black dot of icing—can also be made with fondant!
