Recipe for teddy bear buns

Festive Teddy Bear Buns for the Children’s Birthday Party.

Raisin buns are a guaranteed hit at any children’s birthday party, and when they take the shape of the cutest little teddy bear buns, the kids’ excitement goes through the roof. A perfect way to add a splash of color to the party.

The recipe is based on the cool birthday buns I made for my son Frederik’s birthday party.

Ingredients

  • 400 gram Milk Fingertip temperature
  • 50 gram Yeast
  • 30 gram Sugar
  • 3 gram Salt
  • 90 gram Oil
  • 800 gram Flour I used regular wheat flour
  • 30 pcs. Raisins

Instructions

  • Pour the milk into a bowl – possibly for your stand mixer.
  • Crumble the yeast into the milk.
  • Add sugar, salt, and oil.
  • Mix the dough with the stand mixer or by hand.
  • Add flour gradually until the dough releases from the bowl but is still a bit sticky.
  • Cover the dough with a cloth and let rise for about twenty minutes.
  • Then shape the risen buns:
  • Take 3/4 of the dough and shape it into 10 base buns.
  • Take the remaining quarter of the dough and shape 20 smaller balls (for ears) and 10 slightly larger balls (for the teddy bears’ snouts).
  • Attach ears and snout to each base bun.
  • Decorate each teddy bear bun with raisins for eyes and nose (see picture).
  • Let the buns rise again for about 60 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius (437 degrees Fahrenheit) conventional.
  • Bake the teddy bear buns for 10-12 minutes – it depends on your oven.
  • Remove the buns and let them cool on a rack.
