
Recipe for sweet thai chili sauce
Are you familiar with the delightful sweet chili sauce enjoyed with spring rolls, noodle dishes, torpedo shrimp, dumplings? It sounds complicated to make, but in under 10 minutes you can make it yourself, and the only “exotic” ingredient required is rice vinegar. Most of the other ingredients you should already have in your kitchen.
The sauce is both spicy and sweet and tastes delightful.

Sweet Thai Chili Sauce

Ingredients
- 100 gram Sugar
- 59 gram Water
- 115 gram Rice Wine Vinegar
- 30 gram Garlic finely chopped/crushed
- 5.33 gram Chili Flakes
- 2.3 gram Paprika
- 5.7 gram Fish Sauce
Roux
- 7.39 gram Water
- 4 gram Cornstarch
Instructions
- Put sugar and water in a small pot. Melt it over medium-high heat.
- When the sugar has dissolved, add the rice vinegar.
- Add garlic, chili flakes, and paprika.
- Use a whisk to mix it together and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish sauce and then the slurry (cornstarch and water mixed together).
- Bring it to a boil while stirring and turn off the heat.
- Let it cool, and it is ready to serve.
