Recipe for roasted duck legs with potatoes
Is the thought of tender and juicy duck legs also a bit too hard for you to resist?
Then this is probably one of the easiest and most delicious recipes for duck legs I know.
The potatoes are almost confit in the duck fat from the leg, which is also on the rich side – so it’s important to serve it with a salad that pairs well with the rich dish.

Roasted Duck Legs with Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 pcs. Duck Leg
- 3 cloves Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- 13.6 gram Oil To the Dish
- 4 pcs. Baked Potato
- Fresh thyme
- salad Preferably an apple/fennel salad
Instructions
Confit Potatoes
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into four pieces. It is an advantage if the potato pieces are on the larger side.
- Put the potatoes in an ovenproof dish with oil and garlic.
- Season the duck legs with salt, pepper, and thyme. Place them in the center of the ovenproof dish so that the potatoes and garlic are around them. Optionally, put the rest of the thyme in the dish. Place the dish in the middle of the oven at 175 degrees Celsius (347 degrees Fahrenheit) for 75 minutes. After 30 minutes, baste the duck legs with their own fat, which will now be at the bottom of the dish. Give the potatoes a gentle press and mix them around so they become golden and crispy on all sides. Repeat this again after another 30 minutes.
- Mix them around until they are all coated in oil.
- Serve one leg per person along with the potatoes, garlic, and a fennel/apple salad.
