Recipe for port wine syrup
Port wine syrup is easy to make, and this recipe can be used for cakes, desserts, ice cream, or glazing meat.
I have had particular success glazing pork cheeks, pork chops, or pork belly with this lovely syrup.
In general, it’s about using an approximate ratio of 2/3 port wine and 1/3 sugar.

Port Wine Syrup
Ingredients
- 60 gram Sugar
- 110 gram Port
Instructions
- Place sugar and port wine in a pot, and reduce it to about half the original amount.
- This takes about 30 minutes over medium heat, and it is important not to let it come to a boil.
- Pour the reduced syrup into a sterilized bottle/jar.
