Recipe for matcha green tea – guide to the traditional preparation
It is known that matcha tea is a good green tea. Traditional matcha has been used by Japanese monks for more than a millennium due to its many health benefits. They used it for their ceremonies and meditation sessions, as it was known for its ability to enhance their focus and concentration. The manufacturing process is simple, yet quite special to achieve the right taste and preserve all the beneficial compounds.
Here is how we like to prepare our matcha tea in a traditional way, step by step.

Ingredients
- 1 gram Matcha powder Either Premium or Traditional
- 2 dl Water
Instructions
- Use a high bowl for the process.
- Put 1 gram of matcha powder in the bowl.
- Pour 50 ml water into the bowl. Ideally, the water should be 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Use a frother/whisk and go in a zigzag (w-shape) until the texture becomes foamy.
- Pour the rest of the water (150 ml) into the bowl.
- Serve your tea with a bit of something sweet or add a bit of honey to it.
