Recipe for homemade manhattan
This is the recipe for the classic, strong, and slightly bitter Manhattan – but with a little Anette twist!
A true Manhattan is a delightful mix of American whiskey and Italian vermouth with a couple of dashes of Angostura Bitters. If you’re not into overly sweet cocktails, this one is a winner! It’s not that I’m constantly making cocktails, but I saw a movie where they ordered a Manhattan, and I thought, “I haven’t tasted one of those in a while.”
I found a recipe where they added both Angostura Bitters and Angostura Orange Bitters, but since I didn’t have the latter (I didn’t even know it existed), I decided to add a bit of freshly grated orange zest instead. And it worked great! It definitely added an extra dimension to the flavor experience, but you can just skip it if you prefer.
It tasted wonderful! I only had a small taste, and then my dear husband got the rest. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I wasn’t allowed to have the glass back again.
