Recipe for homemade tomato sauce
A super intense and incredibly delicious tomato sauce.
Basically, I see this as a kind of clean-out-the-fridge dish, so if you don’t have celery, you can easily use something else. If you only have regular onions or red onions, just use them.
The time factor isn’t that crucial, so the sauce can easily be made in 30 minutes on a busy weekday – but the longer you let it cook, the more intense the flavor becomes!
Use the tomato sauce on pizza, in meat sauce, tossed with pasta, or use it as the base for a good stew.
Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
- 27.2 gram Olive Oil
- 10 pcs. Tomato various kinds preferred
- 2 pcs. Red bell pepper
- Celery Leaf 2 stalks
- 2 pcs. Onion
- 1 pcs. Red Onion
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 pcs. Leek
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Balsamic Vinegar to taste - can be replaced with another vinegar)
- Sugar to taste
- Lemon Juice to taste
Instructions
- Cut all vegetables into smaller pieces.
- Pour olive oil into an ovenproof dish followed by all the ingredients.
- Bake everything at 150 degrees Celsius (302 degrees Fahrenheit) for 2 hours.
- Take it out of the oven and blend everything. If you don't have a blender, put it in a pot and use an immersion blender.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Adjust taste with balsamic vinegar, sugar, and lemon juice. It should have a slightly tangy flavor.
- Your tomato sauce is now ready!
