Recipe for cabbage tart with apples and bacon
Delicious and easy recipe for a savory tart filled with plenty of great flavors.
This tart originally started as an onion tart that my mother always made. It is good but also heavy: classic tart dough made from wheat flour and butter, sweet soft onions, and rich, salty bacon.
It works well as a side dish, such an onion tart. But I wanted to make a tart as a main course, and for that, I needed more substance. Whole grains, pointed cabbage, and apples with za’atar because thyme and apples are good friends.
You can use other types of cabbage if that’s what you have in the fridge and try with other fruits, etc.
Recipes are good to follow, but fantastic to change!
Enjoy!
