Recipe for buns
Delicious fluffy homemade rolls for the breakfast table.
Freshly baked rolls are a must when you want to add that extra touch of coziness to breakfast. And a little extra coziness is definitely needed on weekends, I think. This is when there is finally time to gather the family, talk about the past week’s experiences, discuss weekend plans, and more. It is something I always look forward to.
The joy on my daughter’s face when I pull the piping hot rolls out of the oven, while the aroma of freshly baked bread fills the kitchen, is priceless 🙂
The ingredients are ones that most people always have on hand, so the rolls can be baked quite spontaneously.

Ingredients
- 0.5 package Yeast
- 500 gram Water
- 12.5 gram Sugar
- 18 gram Coarse salt
- 50 gram Butter
- 150 gram Whole Wheat Flour
- Wheat Flour 550-650 grams
Instructions
- Find a pot.
- Pour water into the pot.
- Put the pot on the stove and heat the water to body temperature (37 degrees).
- Find a bowl.
- Pour the tempered water.
- Add yeast.
- Let it sit for 7-10 minutes.
- Add sugar and salt.
- Cut the butter into smaller cubes and add it to the bowl as well.
- Add whole wheat flour while stirring.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour, stirring constantly, until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.
- Knead the dough thoroughly with your hands in the bowl. Preferably for 15-20 minutes.
- Cover the bowl and place it in a warm spot.
- Let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour on the table.
- Turn the dough out onto the flour.
- Divide the dough into 12-15 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into tight buns.
- Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let the buns rise to approximately double their size, 45-60 minutes under a cloth.
- Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius (410 degrees Fahrenheit), using fan mode.
- Place the baking sheet with the buns in the preheated oven.
- Bake the buns for 10-12 minutes. The baking time depends on your oven, but you can check if the buns are done by lightly tapping the bottom with your fingertips: if it sounds hollow, the buns are ready.
