Recipe for gin sour 43
Let me introduce: Gin Sour 43! A classic Gin Sour with a twist. It’s both tangy, sweet, smooth, and soft, just as a Gin Sour should be.
Sours belong among the truly old, original cocktails. A sour is characterized by being a mix of an alcoholic base (typically gin, bourbon whiskey, brandy, amaretto, rum, or pisco), lemon or lime juice, and a sweet element, such as syrup or grenadine. Some sours also include egg white.
There is generally something highly sophisticated about a Gin Sour, and the cocktail was especially popular in the 1940s. It has certain similarities with a Tom Collins, though without the fizz, and a Gin Sour is nothing less than a masterpiece of perfectly balanced flavors!
Gin Sour is one of the sours made with egg white, which might initially seem challenging to get your friends to drink raw egg white. Nevertheless, it is the egg white that gives Gin Sour its silky smooth finish, which helps make the cocktail so addictive.
I love to add a little twist to the classics, and in this version, the traditional Gin Sour got an extra kick with the Spanish liqueur, Licor 43. Licor 43 actually consists of 43 ingredients and is based on citrus fruits, supplemented with vanilla and herbs, among other things.
