Recipe for apple buns with banana
If you’re a bit tired of the usual butter rolls, teddy bear rolls, or similar, these buns provide a delicious variation!
They are perfect for the breakfast table, brunch, birthday buns – as an alternative to the traditional raisin buns.
What makes these buns so special is that they taste a bit like cake, without actually being one. They are soft, airy, juicy – and just really delicious.
They are actually relatively “low in fat”, and can easily be enjoyed just as they are – although they are also REALLY good with butter!
Apple Buns with Banana Recipe

Ingredients
- 150 gram Water
- 1 Apples
- 0.25 Lemon the juice from here
- 2 Banana
- 30 gram Raisins
- 25 gram Yeast
- 45 gram Sugar
- 8 gram Cinnamon
- 9 gram Salt
- 60 gram Graham Flour or rye flour
- 250 gram Wheat Flour
- Egg for brushing
Instructions
- Grate the apple coarsely and mash the bananas. You can also finely chop the raisins if you are not too fond of raisins in bread. This way, you still get the good taste from the raisins without the experience of large, soft raisins.
- Put all the ingredients (except wheat flour and egg) in a bowl and mix them together. I used my mixer.
- Add the wheat flour gradually until the dough comes together.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 - 60 minutes.
- Divide the risen dough into 8 pieces and shape them into buns.
- Let the buns rise again for 30 minutes.
- Brush the buns with egg. You can also use water or coffee instead for brushing.
- Bake the buns for 15 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) conventional heat.
- Let the buns cool a bit and serve.
