Recipe for english breakfast waffles
My take on delicious hash brown inspired waffles that can be used for either breakfast or a good brunch.
One of the coziest things about being in England or staying at a hotel abroad is European/Continental/English breakfast in my world.
The combination of hash browns, eggs, bacon, and either baked beans/avocado is a sure hit at our house.
I got the idea for the recipe from the book: “Wonderful Waffles“

Ingredients
Hash brown waffles
- 450 gram Potato
- 1 pcs. Onion
- 2 pcs. Egg
- 30 gram Wheat Flour
- 28 gram Oil neutral in flavor
- Salt and Pepper
Sides
- Bacon I used English bacon
- Avocado
- Egg
Instructions
Hash brown waffles
- Start by peeling your potatoes.
- Grate them on the fine side of your grater into a sieve.
- Press some of the liquid out of the potatoes in the sieve.
- Peel and finely chop the onion.
- Mix everything together in a bowl and let it sit for 5-15 minutes to marinate a little.
- I use a Belgian waffle iron for this recipe. It takes about 10-15 minutes to warm up, so it can heat while the batter rests.
- Put the batter in the waffle iron and cook until crispy. If you don't have a non-stick coating, be sure to use a bit of oil so they don't burn.
- I was in a "playful mood", so I tried a few different things as sides:
- Poached egg. I used this recipe.
- Mashed avocado. I used this recipe.
- Crispy fried English bacon. The bacon was fried in the pan. I used homemade English bacon for this meal.
- Fried egg. One egg was fried in my bacon fat in the pan. The other was cooked in the waffle iron, just to see if it was possible. It was 🙂
- Since I didn't have any white beans at home, I didn't make baked beans. I definitely need to do that next time.
