Start by melting butter in a medium-sized pot and sauté chopped onions, garlic, and chili flakes.
Add fresh tomatoes cut into wedges, tomato paste, red wine, water, bouillon cube, canned tomatoes, sugar, fresh thyme, and basil.
Let the sauce come to a boil, and let it simmer for a few hours, preferably as long as possible, so the flavor really develops!
When the tomato sauce has simmered long enough, remove the thyme stems and blend the sauce until smooth.
Add cream to the tomato sauce, season with salt/pepper and let it come to a boil.
