Instructions
Tomato Sauce
- Start by melting butter in a medium-sized pot and sauté chopped onions, garlic, and chili flakes.
- Add fresh tomatoes cut into wedges, tomato paste, red wine, water, bouillon cube, canned tomatoes, sugar, fresh thyme, and basil.
- Let the sauce come to a boil, and let it simmer for a few hours, preferably as long as possible, so the flavor really develops!
- When the tomato sauce has simmered long enough, remove the thyme stems and blend the sauce until smooth.
- Add cream to the tomato sauce, season with salt/pepper and let it come to a boil.
Meatballs
- Mix ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, panko, parmesan, basil, paprika, and salt/pepper thoroughly.
- Heat a good amount of butter and oil in a pan.
- Shape the mixture into small balls, and fry them in the pan.
- When the meatballs are done frying, pour the tomato sauce over the pan so the meatballs and tomato sauce can simmer together.
- Lastly, add the cooked pasta and mix well with the tomato sauce and meatballs.
- Serve with fresh basil and parmesan on top
