Khobz (Moroccan bread)

Ingredients

  • 500 gram Wheat Flour 4 cups
  • 295 gram Water warm. 1.25 cups
  • 12 gram Salt
  • 8 gram Sugar
  • 20 gram Yeast or 1 tbsp. dry yeast
  • 27 gram Olive Oil
  • Flour Semolina flour for shaping

Instructions

  • Start by mixing flour, salt, and sugar together in a bowl.
  • Make a small indentation and crumble your yeast in.
  • Pour water into the indentation and dissolve the yeast.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic - it should not be wet.
  • Divide the dough into 2 and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  • Then take a baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle semolina on the parchment paper.
  • Take your 2 doughs and shape them into round, slightly flattened forms.
  • Let them rise for at least 1 hour.
  • Brush with water and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit), depending on the thickness of your bread.
  • They should be baked until they are golden and sound hollow when you tap on them. ??‍??
