Beignet batter (beer batter)

Try the crispy, fried vegetables next time you need to serve a snack with a glass of wine or beer. Fried vegetables make a delicious snack and are suitable for occasions where you would otherwise serve a bowl of chips.

Ingredients

  • 100 gram Wheat Flour
  • 150 gram Beer
  • 6 gram Salt
  • 2 pcs. Egg
  • Rapeseed Oil for frying
  • Mixed vegetables e.g., zucchini, spring onions, and red onions.

Instructions

  • Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Pour the beer into the flour mixture and stir the ingredients together.
  • Add the eggs last and mix the batter thoroughly - use an electric mixer or a strong hand whisk.
  • Place the bowl in the fridge and let the batter rest for about 30 minutes.
  • Cut the vegetables you have chosen to use into suitable pieces and dip them in the batter.
  • Pour the oil into a pot and bring it to a boil.
  • When the oil is hot, carefully put the vegetables into the oil. Don't put too many at once, as the temperature will drop too much.
  • Fry the vegetables until they are golden brown.
  • Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on a plate with paper towels.
  • The delicious fried vegetables are perfect as a pre-dinner snack with a cold beer!

Notes

You can use many different kinds of vegetables in the recipe. Try, for example, carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms.
