Recipe for homemade whole wheat sausage rolls
Sausage rolls are a safe choice when you need to pull out a good snack, packed lunch, or midday snack from your bag.
Here you get the recipe for a coarse version with both spelt and whole wheat flour, which is a hit among both children and adults.
Make a good big batch and freeze the sausage rolls in bags – that way you’ll always have something delicious on hand for holidays, trips, or just for a small hunger.
If you and your children are crazy about ketchup, you can choose to add a little ketchup in the rolls. It tastes wonderful!

Ingredients
- 0.5 package Dry Yeast
- 750 gram Water
- 18 gram Salt
- 12.5 gram Sugar
- 110 gram Graham Flour
- 100 gram Spelled Flour
- 720 gram Wheat Flour + extra for kneading
Instructions
- Mix yeast with lukewarm water and dissolve the yeast.
- Add salt, sugar, and flour. You can benefit from mixing the different types of flour together and adding them gradually.
- Can be mixed together in a mixer or by hand.
- Let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
- Then form the sausage rolls by rolling out the dough. Cut the dough into the shape you want for your sausage rolls. Place the sausages and roll them together.
- Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.
- Brush with a little beaten egg or milk.
- Bake them in the oven for 10 minutes at 220 degrees Celsius (428 degrees Fahrenheit) convection.
