Recipe for whole wheat sausage rolls
Sausage rolls are popular with children, and if you bake them yourself with a dough that contains whole grain flour and use high-quality sausages, they become quite a nutritious snack.
You can either use special sausage rolls sausages for the purpose or use the small cocktail sausages to make mini sausage rolls. Remember to adjust the baking time by approximately 5 minutes if you use cocktail sausages.

Ingredients
- 0.5 package Yeast corresponds to 25 grams
- 250 gram Milk
- 25 gram Butter
- 8.4 gram Sugar
- 6 gram Coarse salt
- 120 gram Whole Wheat Flour
- 300 gram Wheat Flour maybe a little more
- Sausages Sausage rolls or cocktail sausages.
- Water for brushing
- Sesame Seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan.
- Pour the milk into the butter and transfer the mixture into a large bowl or dough bowl.
- Crumble the yeast into the liquid and add salt and sugar.
- Stir everything together with a hand whisk until the yeast is dissolved.
- Add whole wheat flour and mix well into the dough.
- Add wheat flour and stir/knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a shower cap or a damp tea towel.
- Let the dough rise for 60 minutes.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into 6 pieces.
- Roll each piece of dough into a long sausage.
- Twist the dough around the chosen sausages until they are fully covered by the dough.
- Place the sausage rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Let them rise again for 15 minutes.
- Brush the sausage rolls with water and sprinkle them with sesame seeds.
- Bake them at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 20 minutes, until they are golden and fully baked.
- Let them cool on a wire rack.
