Recipe for tea with elderflowers
When the scent from the blooming branches of elder shrubs spreads through the summer air, a special atmosphere settles over the landscape. It’s a taste and a fragrance you can easily gather and save for a cold winter day, when a little reminder of the returning warmth is needed.
Here is the recipe for elderflower tea.
The preparation time is short, but you should expect up to 2 days of waiting time, as the elderflowers need to dry before the tea is ready.

Ingredients
- 10 pcs. Fresh elderflowers up to 15 pcs., to taste
- 100 gram Tea pure tea, black or green
Instructions
- Pick up to 15 elderflower heads from bushes that grow in protected areas, away from busy roads, field boundaries, or polluted regions.
- Back in the kitchen, clip off the thick stems from the heads before placing them on a piece of baking paper.
- Let them dry for up to two days, turning the flowers daily to prevent clumping. It's essential that they are completely dry to ensure the tea's longevity.
- Once the flowers are dry, clip as much of the remaining stems as possible.
- Mix the flowers with the tea and store the blend in an airtight tin.
- The homemade tea should steep according to the instructions on the tea you are using as a base.

Shelf Life and Storage
To extend the tea's shelf life, store it in an airtight, non-transparent tin. The tea retains its intense flavor best if kept away from sunlight and stored at room temperature.Tea with elderflowers can last up to 1 year.
