Recipe for spaghetti bolognese
This recipe for meat sauce for spaghetti is very close to the original spaghetti bolognese.
In Italy, Ragú alla Bolognese (or spaghetti with meat sauce) is not a quick dish you start making 30 minutes before dinner time. Instead, it is a genuine slow-cooked dish that needs to simmer on the stove for hours before being served. The long time in the pot gives the dish a thick, almost creamy consistency, and the final result is quite different from our Danish version.
In this recipe, we make the dish as they do in its homeland, and we promise you that your efforts will be noticeable in the finished result. In addition to meat, this recipe uses a large amount of vegetables, making this dish a great way to get a lot of vegetables into your diet.

Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients
- 400 gram Ground Beef
- 2 pcs. Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 pcs. Parsley Root
- 1 pcs. Parsnip
- 1 pcs. Carrots
- 2 pcs. Celery Leaf
- 0.25 pcs. Celery
- 150 gram Passata
- 1 pcs. Red bell pepper
- Spices salt and pepper
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Lemon Juice
Instructions
- Brown the meat in a medium-sized pot without any fat.
- Distribute the meat at the bottom of the pot with a spatula and let it brown over medium-high heat.
- Stir the meat every few minutes and "chop" all clumps as finely as you can. The meat will release a lot of moisture, which needs to evaporate.
- Cook the meat for a long time, until it finally sizzles and crackles in the pot. It will take longer than you think.
- Remove the cooked meat from the pan and set it aside.
- Chop the vegetables into smaller pieces and sauté them lightly in the pan where the meat was cooked over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Afterward, add the passata and heat everything thoroughly before blending it all.
- Add the meat to the blended vegetables and let the dish simmer over low heat for at least three hours.
- Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar until it is adequately rounded and rich.
- Serve the Bolognese sauce with spaghetti, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, and good bread, such as this one.
