Recipe for red onion chutney
Red onion chutney is somewhat unfamiliar to most Danes, but it tastes fantastic and is super easy to make. It can both elevate your lunchbox, a sandwich, or a simple everyday dinner dish to new heights. See the delicious recipe here.

Ingredients
- 1 kg Red Onion
- 100 gram Brown sugar
- 200 gram Balsamic Vinegar
- 70 gram Oil
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 Fresh thyme
- 1 Lemon The juice from one lemon
Instructions
- Cut the onions into thin wedges and finely chop the garlic.
- Heat a high-sided pan with oil and add the onions and brown sugar a little at a time. The onions should caramelize, and when they are all caramelized, add the balsamic vinegar, lemon, and chopped thyme.
- Bring the chutney to a boil, and let it boil for about 30 minutes until it starts to thicken.
- Pour the chutney into jars and refrigerate.
- The chutney can keep for about 14 days in the refrigerator.
