Plum Jam
Try your hand at making a delicious and easy-to-make jam made from plums, vanilla, and sugar.
Ingredients
- 1500 gram Plums
- 800 gram Cane Sugar
- 1 pcs. Vanilla Pod
- 50 gram Water
- red melatin follow the instructions on the packet to find the correct dosage
- Atamon
Instructions
- Rinse the plums well, halve them, and remove the pits.
- Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds with a small, sharp knife. "Mash" the seeds in a bit of the sugar to separate them from each other.
- Place the plums, homemade vanilla sugar, sugar, and water in a pot and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Skim off the surface if necessary.
- Let the fruit mixture simmer over low heat for about 30-40 minutes. Cook until it begins to thicken.
- Optionally, blend the jam with an immersion blender if you want it to be completely smooth and even.
- Add Melatin according to the package instructions. It indicates how much you need to use, depending on how firm you want your jam.
- Pour the plum jam into clean, scalded jars that may have been rinsed in Atamon.
- Store the plum jam in a cool place.
Notes
Plum jam is delicious on bread and rolls and as an accompaniment to ice cream and pancakes. Try also adding a spoonful to your skyr or oatmeal in the morning - it tastes really good!
