
Recipe for hummus
Hummus is a classic Middle Eastern dip that originated in ancient Egypt and has spread worldwide as a beloved and healthy snack. This creamy chickpea paste is known for its rich flavor and can be used as a dip for vegetables, a spread in sandwiches, or as a side dish for many different dishes, such as in pita or flatbread.

Equipment
- Blender or food processor or hand blender
Ingredients
- 1 can Chickpeas drained and rinsed
- 1/2 clove Garlic
- 15 gram Tahini preferably homemade (see our recipe here)
- 2.5 gram Cumin ground
- 45 gram Olive Oil
- 50 gram Water
- 15 gram Lemon Juice
- Salt to taste
- Cayenne Pepper to taste
Instructions
Preparation of ingredients:
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
- Peel and coarsely chop the garlic clove.
Blending the hummus:
- Place chickpeas, garlic, tahini, ground cumin, olive oil, water, and lemon juice in a blender or food processor.
- Blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed.
Season to taste:
- Season the hummus with salt and cayenne pepper to taste.
- Blend again briefly to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
Serving:
- Transfer the hummus to a bowl.
- Serve with fresh vegetable sticks, pita bread, or as a spread in sandwiches.
