Recipe for homemade burger
Christmas lunch yesterday and craving something greasy today…? Or perhaps just ultimate weekend comfort food….? Either way, homemade burgers must be the answer! ?
This one features easy homemade burger buns, juicy spiced beef patties, and pickled red onions.
Beef patties tend to be a bit dry and flavorless, but for these, I have added egg and oatmeal to retain moisture, along with plenty of spices to enhance the taste.
The result; a perfect and juicy burger patty, which must be the secret to a great burger ?
You can make the burger buns and red onions yourself, or buy them ready-made depending on how much time you want to spend. Either way, you’ll get the recipe for everything here ?

Instructions
Burger Buns
- Dissolve the yeast in water, then add the remaining ingredients.
- Stir with dough hooks on a hand mixer or stand mixer for about 10 minutes.
- Knead the dough together on a floured surface and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- Form 12 buns and place them on a baking sheet.
- Press them slightly flat, brush with milk, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Let them rise again for 20 minutes and then bake at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 12-14 minutes, until golden.
Ground Beef Patties
- Mix all the ingredients into a meat mixture and let it rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
- Form 4 patties, finely chop them with a knife on both sides (to prevent them from shrinking), and fry on a (grill) pan.
- Optionally, add a slice of cheese in the last few minutes.
Pickled Red Onions
- Peel the red onions and cut them into thin slices.
- Place them in a sterilized jar.
- Boil sugar, vinegar, and water in a small pot until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour the boiling brine over the onions and let them sit for at least 30 minutes.
- Now it's just a matter of assembling your burger and adding all your favorite toppings, such as bacon, lettuce, ketchup, etc.
- Enjoy your meal!
