Recipe for homemade burger

Christmas lunch yesterday and craving something greasy today…? Or perhaps just ultimate weekend comfort food….? Either way, homemade burgers must be the answer! ?

This one features easy homemade burger buns, juicy spiced beef patties, and pickled red onions.

Beef patties tend to be a bit dry and flavorless, but for these, I have added egg and oatmeal to retain moisture, along with plenty of spices to enhance the taste.

The result; a perfect and juicy burger patty, which must be the secret to a great burger ?

You can make the burger buns and red onions yourself, or buy them ready-made depending on how much time you want to spend. Either way, you’ll get the recipe for everything here ?

Ingredients

Burger buns (12 pcs)

  • 3 dl Water warm
  • 50 gram Yeast
  • 1 dl Yogurt plain. Or skyr
  • 450 gram Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Sugar
  • 75 gram Butter soft

Minced steaks (4 pcs.)

  • 500 gram Ground Beef 10-12 %
  • 1 pcs. Egg
  • 2 tablespoon Oatmeal
  • 0.5 tsp. Chili
  • 1 tsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp. Oregano
  • 0.5 tsp. Pepper
  • 1.5 tsp. Salt

Pickled red onions

  • 2 pcs. Red Onion
  • 1.5 dl Sugar
  • 0.5 dl White Wine Vinegar
  • 0.5 dl Boiling water

Instructions

Burger Buns

  • Dissolve the yeast in water, then add the remaining ingredients.
  • Stir with dough hooks on a hand mixer or stand mixer for about 10 minutes.
  • Knead the dough together on a floured surface and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  • Form 12 buns and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Press them slightly flat, brush with milk, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Let them rise again for 20 minutes and then bake at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 12-14 minutes, until golden.

Ground Beef Patties

  • Mix all the ingredients into a meat mixture and let it rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
  • Form 4 patties, finely chop them with a knife on both sides (to prevent them from shrinking), and fry on a (grill) pan.
  • Optionally, add a slice of cheese in the last few minutes.

Pickled Red Onions

  • Peel the red onions and cut them into thin slices.
  • Place them in a sterilized jar.
  • Boil sugar, vinegar, and water in a small pot until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the boiling brine over the onions and let them sit for at least 30 minutes.
  • Now it's just a matter of assembling your burger and adding all your favorite toppings, such as bacon, lettuce, ketchup, etc.
  • Enjoy your meal!
