Recipe for grilled pointed cabbage with lemon and salt
Grilled pointed cabbage with lemon and salt is a formidable side dish for the grill table, and it pairs well with grilled steak, fish, or poultry.
When the pointed cabbage has had a turn on the grill and becomes slightly charred, a fantastic nutty flavor emerges in the outer leaves of the cabbage, adding a new dimension and depth to its otherwise very delicate and pea-like taste. Wow!
The cabbage’s mild flavor allows the salty butter and tangy lemon to elevate the grilled pointed cabbage to entirely new heights.
Pointed cabbage can easily find its way to either the lunch or dinner table, finely chopped in a fresh, raw salad, or in cabbage wraps as an alternative to regular tortillas. You can also make a delicious coleslaw with both pointed cabbage and celery. Have you ever tried salt-baking pointed cabbage? You can serve the salt-baked pointed cabbage with broccoli crudité, spinach purée, and white wine sauce.

Grilled pointed cabbage with lemon and salt
Ingredients
- 1 pcs. Pointed Cabbage
- 1 pcs. Lemon organic
- Oil for brushing
- Salt
Instructions
- Start by possibly removing the outer leaves from the pointed cabbage. If the cabbage is organic, you can advantageously save the outer leaves and, for example, chop them very finely to use in a coleslaw - the dark green leaves give a very beautiful color to a dish that often looks somewhat "flat" in appearance 😉
- Then cut the pointed cabbage into quarters and rinse.
- Brush the inside of the quartered cabbage with a bit of oil.
- Place the cabbage on the grill over direct, high heat.
- Remove the cabbage from the heat when grill marks appear. Depending on how crispy or less crispy you want the cabbage, it can subsequently be placed on indirect heat for a couple of minutes.
- Rinse and halve the lemon. Place the lemon on the grill over direct, high heat as well.
- Remove the lemon from the grill when grill marks appear.
- Squeeze the juice from the grilled lemon over the grilled cabbage and season with salt - preferably flake salt!
- Enjoy your meal!
