Recipe for garlic twists with parsley
I might have gone a bit into a “snurrer corner”. The other day I made these lovely snurrer with cardamom, remonce, and vanilla cream on top, and now I’ve made a more lunch-friendly version, namely with garlic and parsley, as well as sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
A really wonderful snack to have on hand.
Snurrer are incredibly popular, and they are quite easy to make yourself! Below, I’ve attached a video that shows the technique.
Garlic Snurrer with Parsley Recipe

Ingredients
Dough for cinnamon rolls
- 500 gram Milk cold
- 50 gram Yeast
- 1 Egg large
- 200 gram Durum flour
- 800 gram Wheat Flour
- 14 gram Salt
- 14 gram Sugar
- 150 gram Butter cut into small cubes
Garlic Filling
- 100 gram Butter
- Parsley fresh
- 5 cloves Garlic
- 6 gram Salt
Topping
- 1 Egg for brushing
- Sesame Seeds for sprinkling
Instructions
Dough for Twists
- Start by pouring the cold milk into a bowl.
- Add the yeast to the bowl and stir it into the milk until it dissolves.
- Crack the egg into the bowl and add both types of flour, along with the salt and sugar.
- Knead the dough thoroughly, either by hand or using a machine. With a machine, it takes about 8 minutes, and by hand, it will naturally take a bit longer.
- When the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl, add the butter. Let everything be kneaded together well.
- Allow the dough to rise for 60 minutes.
- Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until it forms a homogeneous mixture.
- When the dough has finished rising, transfer it to the kitchen counter.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 60 x 30 centimeters.
- Spread your filling evenly over the dough.
- Fold one side of the dough (on the short side) inwards so that it touches the middle of the dough, then fold the other side over it, so you have three layers.
- Roll out the dough again so that it becomes about five centimeters longer on the long side.
- Cut the dough on the short side so you get 20 pieces, each about three centimeters wide.
- Roll each piece into a twist, one by one. See how in this video.
- Place parchment paper on a couple of baking sheets and distribute the twists on them with some distance between each.
- Let them rise until they double in size.
- Whisk the egg and brush it onto the risen twists.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake the twists at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) in a conventional oven for about 15 minutes. The time depends on your oven, so keep an eye on them. They may need only about 12 minutes.
- Allow the baked garlic twists to cool on a rack before serving.
