Recipe for black russian
The delightful cocktail Black Russian – a sharp and strong conclusion to a delicious meal.
Reportedly, the drink is not Russian but comes from the Belgian bartender Gustave Tops, who made it in 1949.
He worked in Brussels at Hotel Metropole and made it in honor of Perle Mesta, who was the American ambassador to Luxembourg at the time.
It gets its name from the black coffee liqueur (Black) and the country where vodka originates from (Russian).
