Recipe for beef stew with garam masala sauce and vegetables

Stew on the menu this week…?

This one is delightful and perfect for the winter season – true comfort food.

Imagine butter-soft beef that falls apart when you fork it… enveloped in a flavorful, spiced sauce with crispy vegetables as companions. It’s truly a treat!

The dish is both cozy and easy to make – it needs to simmer for a couple of hours, sure, but while it does, you don’t have to do anything but enjoy the aroma spreading through the house.

I’ve served it with rice and naan bread, but mashed potatoes and a good salad would also be nice – do whatever you prefer.

I’ve rounded off the sauce with coconut milk, which gives a creamy texture and a fine balance to the flavorful dish. If you prefer to use cream instead, you can replace the coconut milk with that.

Either way, you’ll get a truly wonderful meal brimming with winter vibes and coziness.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Pot Roast Beef cut into large cubes
  • Butter for frying
  • 6 gram Fresh ginger grated
  • 14 gram Garam Masala Indian spice
  • 3.5 gram Paprika
  • 1 can Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 pcs. Stock Cube beef
  • 250 gram Water
  • 250 gram Coconut Milk mix the liquid and solid, can be replaced with cream
  • 1 pcs. Red bell pepper cut into strips
  • 2 pcs. Carrots large, peeled and sliced
  • Salt and Pepper a little

Roux

  • 16 gram Cornstarch
  • 50 gram Water

In addition

  • Rice
  • Bread e.g. naan bread

Instructions

  • Brown the beef cubes well in butter in a large pot.
  • Add ginger, garam masala, and paprika, sauté for a couple of minutes.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, water, and bouillon cube – let the dish simmer covered over low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours (beef varies, check if it's tender before the next step).
  • Add coconut milk, carrots, and bell pepper to the pot and let simmer for another 20 minutes. Start the rice cooking during the last part of the simmering time.
  • If you think the sauce needs thickening, stir a little cornstarch into water and add to the pot, giving a quick boil so the sauce thickens.
  • Season the dish and serve with rice and bread
