Denmark continues to be at the forefront when it comes to making a mark on quality in gastronomy. We have two Danish restaurants among the top 5 in the world, the winning team in the unofficial world championship for chefs: “Bocuse d’Or” was won by Denmark this year, and once again this year, the world’s best steak comes from the Danish company JN Meat in Slagelse.
For the second consecutive year, JN Meat can proudly boast of delivering the world’s best steaks. At an international steak competition in Dublin, a Finnish steak from JN Meat was crowned the world’s best steak.
Again this year, steaks from JN Meat were crowned the world’s best steak. And not only that – JN Meat was, just like last year, crowned the world’s best meat producer. Thus, two prestigious world titles have been secured two years in a row.
Here is JN Meat’s owner, John Sashi Nielsen. The crowning has just taken place in the “World Steak Challenge” competition in Dublin.

The competition was exceptionally tough in the World Championship for good steaks, the World Steak Challenge, which was held in Dublin this year. Over 300 steaks from all over the world competed to win the prize for the world’s best steak. But it was a steak from Finland – produced by JN Meat in Slagelse – that took the victory. It meant that steaks from respected meat countries like the USA, Australia, Ireland, and Uruguay once again had to see themselves defeated by the Finnish beef from JN Meat.
At the same time as JN Meat received the award for the world’s best steak, JN Meat also won gold in a range of other meat disciplines. Overall, this meant that JN Meat was also crowned as the world’s best meat producer, so it is both a happy and proud John Sashi Nielsen who has just returned home from Dublin.
He says:
– Well, it’s absolutely fantastic. One thing is that we won the steak championship in 2018, but that we also win here in 2019 is totally crazy. It’s a wild dream that has come true, and I am both happy and moved by our passion for delivering the world’s best meat.
Up until now, meat enthusiasts have not considered Finnish beef to be anything special. But with two back-to-back world championships, the beef from JN MEAT has really made a mark on the world map.
John Sashi Nielsen from JN Meat spends a large part of his time traveling around the world to find beef of extra high quality.
And it was on one of these meat trips that John Sashi Nielsen stumbled upon the Finnish beef. This fantastic quality meat is produced and sold from JN Meat in Slagelse to most of the world, evaluated based on the meat’s appearance, tenderness, juiciness, flavor, and aroma – and it was precisely in these disciplines that the Finnish beef scored maximum points in Dublin at the World Steak Challenge.
