Per is the founder of GastroFun.dk. Per's heart beats especially for the sous vide technique, sauces and dry-aged meat. His mission is to get all people to eat better and play and experiment more in their kitchens.

24. November 2019

Sometimes, you need to remember to say thank you. So first and foremost: Thank you. We LOVE to see how many food-loving souls you truly are out there in Denmark, and MY WORD, what wonderful food nerds you are. Food nerds who share our great passion for much more gastroFUN at home in Danish kitchens! It drives us every single day. Without you, GastroFun wouldn’t be what it is today. Literally! GastroFun has always primarily been a user-driven food universe, so it’s your recipes, experiences, and experiments in the kitchen that are the entire foundation for what GastroFun is and always should be! You are simply part of guiding GastroFun’s content – both yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

THEREFORE, we would like to introduce you to a special selection of our many users. We can already reveal that the first person you will meet is a VERY prominent man in the GastroFun universe, whom you MUST know!
And last but not least: REMEMBER that you should never take anything for granted in life.

Everything can change in an instant – which is also the whole reason GastroFun is where it is today, but we can discuss that another day! In the meantime, we can still enjoy lots of good homemade food, relax more, and just enjoy.

Per Asmussen

Say hello to Per! Per is a man you simply MUST know. He is the one who, back in the day, decided to found GastroFun.dk.

Per’s heart is big and meaty! Or put another way: Per’s heart beats ESPECIALLY for good meat, preferably dry-aged, as well as sous vide and “seasoning the food”. If you invite Per over for a meal, he will definitely end up giving you a helping hand with the seasoning. That’s just how helpful he is…

As a child, Per was one of the most PICKY children. He ate meat, potatoes, and gravy. Period. That’s why he is so passionate today about cooking food to PERFECTION, because if it’s perfect, well, then most people will like it. Danes typically rotate between cooking the same 10-20 dishes at home, but by eating seasonally and using both new and good old kitchen techniques, Per has experienced eating MUCH more delicious and varied meals! That’s what he wants to pass on to the rest of us.

Important knowledge and trivial info: Per cannot stand strawberries.

Anette Søstrøm Asmussen

Anette Søstrøm Asmussen

Say a warm hello to Anette! And Anette, well, you can’t avoid her on GastroFun.dk. Not only is she CRAZY about baking, she is also Per’s better half.

Anette is influenced by a childhood filled with all the classic Danish dishes, but in addition, her father also introduced the family to French cuisine through many restaurant visits and ski trips. This has given her the natural curiosity she has for ALL food!

The kitchen and cooking have become the place Anette goes to relax and unwind! And besides being a whiz at homemade pasta and pizza made entirely from scratch, Anette also has a knack for desserts and cakes. She experiments wildly in the sweet kitchen, especially these days, as she is on maternity leave – which we certainly enjoy here in the editorial team!

Important knowledge and trivial info: Anette’s “go-to” dish is pancakes, so the family’s dinner consists of pancakes with ice cream about once a month!

Thomas Nielsen

Thomas Nielsen

Meet Thomas! ?

Thomas is the baking enthusiast in the class – literally. He is a home economics teacher… but not the ordinary kind! No, summer salads, hamburgers, spaghetti Bolognese, and all the other easy dishes that the kids at his school can theoretically learn at home – well, they don’t belong in Thomas’ curriculum. Instead, the menu features beignet dough, homemade bearnaise, and molecular gastronomy ?‍?⚗ Additionally, Thomas is passionate about bread, and sourdough is especially close to his heart. Plus, kitchen equipment just has to be top-notch!

And oh yes, Thomas comes from a family that loves to add generous amounts of alcohol to sauces and desserts – their tiramisu, for example, is rather boozy and not for the faint-hearted!

Important knowledge and trivial info: Thomas is REALLY bad at boiling potatoes and has only done it about 10 times in his life.

Anne Mette Autzen

Anne Mette Autzen

Meet Anne Mette!

Anne Mette comes from a home where meals and menus are given a lot of attention. She is from Southern Jutland and therefore loves the old Southern Jutland classics – she is generally very keen on maintaining good traditions!

But she also LOVES experimenting with new things in cooking – preferably with seasonal ingredients. Whether it’s stews, pickling, or baking on the agenda, she has already tied on the apron! ?

Everyday dishes typically brim with LOTS of variety, but usually focus on dishes that are quick and easy to make in a busy day for a typical Danish family, and the dishes often have short ingredient lists.

Important knowledge and trivial info: If you ask Anne Mette, raisins in baked goods are just a NO-GO!

Ronnie Petersen

Ronnie

Give a warm welcome to Ronnie! ?‍♂

Ronnie comes from a traditional Northern Jutland family. Therefore, it is a bit unusual that he can best be described as a SUCKER for American cuisine. Both American pies, cakes, desserts, sauces, yes ALL American food, is simply top-notch.

And he is nothing less than a passionate burger enthusiast. He REALLY appreciates a well-made burger! He could actually eat it for all of his main meals. It’s almost absurd.

Moreover, Ronnie has a huge interest in both new and old cooking techniques and, not least, meat aging. He can actually best be described as a genuine food nerd.

He geeks out on EVERYTHING related to food, RIGHT down to the details – he even built his own meat aging cabinet from an old refrigerator! Who does that, really?

Important knowledge and trivial info: Ronnie ALWAYS overcooks the pasta. But then again, pasta isn’t particularly American, you could say!
