If you have plum trees in your garden, some years you might experience them being almost overloaded with fruit. It’s certainly a luxury to have fresh, Danish plums right outside your door, but it can also be a challenge to figure out what to do with all that fruit.
Try using some of them to make a delicious, homemade plum juice. The juice is easy to make and tastes delightful, and there’s just something impressive about making your own juice!

Ingredients
- 1 kg Plums pitted
- 500 gram Sugar
- 2 loaves Fresh ginger peeled
- 1 pcs. Lemon unsprayed, quartered
- 1 dl Water
Instructions
- Place the pitted plums in a pot along with sugar, water, and 1 lemon cut into quarters.
- Bring the pot to a boil and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool down slightly.
- Pour the fruit mixture into a sieve lined with a cloth and press on the plums with a spoon to extract all the juice. Place a steel bowl, sterilized in boiling water, under the sieve to collect the juice.
- Optionally, taste the juice and add more cane sugar or a bit more lemon juice if needed.
- Pour the juice into sterilized bottles and store it in the refrigerator.
- Serve the plum juice mixed with water to taste, lemon slices, and ice cubes.
