Recipe for condensed milk
Condensed milk is a product most of us know from supermarket shelves, where it has been available for several years. It consists of sweetened, reduced whole milk and is especially used for homemade caramel, which can be made without any other ingredients than a can of condensed milk and a pot of water.
As with everything else, condensed milk does not get better by being put in a can and stored for a long time, as is the case with the ready-made varieties you can buy. For this reason, it is worth getting acquainted with the homemade version of condensed milk. The milk is surprisingly easy to make, and the result is far better than the cans of condensed milk you can buy.

Condensed Milk

- 1 l Whole Milk
- 400 gram Sugar
- 1.2 gram Baking Soda
Instructions
- Pour whole milk and sugar into a pot.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes. It is important to stir the milk regularly during boiling, as it will otherwise burn.
- When the mixture begins to thicken and become yellowish and bubbly, it is done.
- Remove the milk from the heat.
- Add baking soda to the concentrated milk - the milk will thicken as soon as it cools down.
- Pour your homemade condensed milk into clean, scalded jars and store the jars in the fridge.
