
Recipe for spinach powerpot with pointed cabbage, spiced beef, and pearl barley
Here’s a quick, healthy, and truly delicious everyday meal, where there’s plenty of opportunity to use your leftovers while getting something tasty in the process.
In the pan, there’s seasoned ground beef, fresh spinach, pointed cabbage, and pearl barley – an easy and delicious dish packed with proteins, vitamins, and dietary fibers… You essentially just sauté and season the meat along with some onions and garlic, then add whatever greens you have – zucchini, broccoli, and bell peppers could also have been great additions.
Finally, stir in the pearl barley and some Greek yogurt, and voila – creamy, flavorful, healthy, and delicious, all ready in 30 minutes.

Spinach powerpot with pointed cabbage, spiced beef, and pearl barley
Ingredients
- 160 gram Pearl Barley +lightly salted water for boiling
- 1 pcs. Onion finely chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic finely chopped
- 500 gram Ground beef
- 6 gram Salt
- 1.5 gram Pepper
- 1 gram Oregano dried
- 1 gram Basil dried
- 0.5 gram Crushed chili
- 1/2 pcs. Pointed Cabbage thinly sliced
- 150 gram Spinach rinsed
- 100 gram Greek yoghurt or Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Put the pearl barley to boil (approx. 25 min).
- Sauté onions and garlic in a bit of butter in a deep pan.
- Add beef and spices, sauté until the meat is browned. Add pointed cabbage and spinach, let simmer for about 10 minutes with regular stirring.
- Drain the pearl barley and mix it in the pan with the Greek yogurt. Season with salt and pepper – serve.
