Put flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and butter in a bowl and crumble the butter coarsely.
Knead the dough together with the buttermilk, it is fine if there are big chunks of butter left in the dough.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and gently press the dough out to a thickness of 1 1/2 - 2 cm in height.
Cut out your scones with a cutter about 5 cm in diameter.
The excess dough should be briefly kneaded together again, and the dough pressed out and scones cut out until there is no more dough left. I got 10 scones from my batch.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) (fan-forced) for 10-15 minutes.
Let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
