Old-fashioned Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 75 gram Brown sugar
  • 100 gram Sugar
  • 175 gram Butter Soft butter
  • 1 pcs. Egg
  • 250 gram Wheat Flour
  • 5 gram Baking Soda
  • 5.2 gram Cinnamon
  • 2.1 gram Cloves
  • 1.8 gram Ground ginger
  • 2.1 gram All Spice
  • 2 gram Cardamom
  • 250 gram Milk
  • 120 gram Raisins

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (347 degrees Fahrenheit) (fan).
  • Mix brown sugar, sugar, and butter together.
  • Add eggs and mix it together.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and the remaining spices in a separate bowl.
  • Sift the flour mixture into the bowl with sugar and butter.
  • Stir well.
  • Add milk and mix until the batter is uniform.
  • Add raisins.
  • Grease your baking form and pour the batter into it. You can use any suitable form, but the cake will rise considerably. 
  • Bake the cake for about an hour, until a meat skewer or similar inserted into the center comes out clean. 
  • Let the cake cool slightly before turning it out of the form. 
  • Once the cake is completely cool, you can cut it into slices. 

Notes

TIP: The spice cake can also be split and filled with buttercream, which also gives a lovely flavor.
