Homemade Buns

Delicious and tasty buns with oatmeal. It makes them more moist and they stay juicy for a longer time.

Ingredients

  • 35 gram Oatmeal
  • 200 gram Water
  • 25 gram Yeast
  • 0.5 l Water lukewarm
  • 10 gram Salt
  • 10 gram Sugar
  • 700 gram Wheat Flour optionally a bit more
  • Milk for brushing

Instructions

Oatmeal:

  • 1 dl. oatmeal and 2 dl. water are added to a pot.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring.
  • Let the oatmeal boil until smooth, then turn off the heat.
  • Let the oatmeal cool until it is lukewarm.

Dough:

  • Crumb the yeast into a large bowl or dough dish.
  • Pour lukewarm water, salt, and sugar into the bowl.
  • Stir the mixture until the yeast is dissolved - use a hand whisk.
  • Add the cooled oatmeal to the yeast mixture.
  • Add flour and mix the dough together.
  • Add enough flour to the dough so that it is kneadable but still soft and pliable.
  • Knead the dough well.
  • Cover the bowl with a damp kitchen towel or a shower cap.
  • Let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
  • Shape the dough into 15-20 buns.
  • Place them on a baking sheet with baking paper.
  • Let the shaped buns rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Brush the buns with milk.
  • Bake them in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 220 degrees Celsius (428 degrees Fahrenheit) convection.
  • Let the baked buns cool on a wire rack.
