
Recipe for tree logs
The classic leftover cake from the bakery is popular with both adults and children. Use up your leftover cakes and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time with this delicious and easy recipe. Cake leftovers should never be thrown away but frozen instead. When you have leftover cake, put it in the bag, and when it’s full, you’re ready to make træstammer or rum balls.

Tree Logs
Ingredients
- 400 gram cake leftovers from e.g. pound cake or cookies, preferably a mixture
- 80 gram jam blackcurrant, raspberry or strawberry
- 10 gram Rome can optionally be replaced with a few drops of rum essence
- 125 gram Marzipan
- 375 gram Marzipan for rolling out
- Powdered Sugar
- 200 gram Dark chocolate
Instructions
- Mix cake leftovers, jam, rum, and grated marzipan together – preferably in a mixer or food processor.
- Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a water bath – be careful not to get any water in it.
- Form the mixture into a long roll and set it aside.
- Roll out the marzipan with a rolling pin, sprinkling a bit of powdered sugar on the table to prevent sticking. Roll it out thinly, about 2 millimeters is suitable.
- Wrap the log of tree log mixture in the marzipan and cut into appropriate lengths. Optionally, refrigerate them for about 30 min.
- Dip the ends of your tree logs in melted chocolate. Refrigerate them until ready to serve.
