Recipe for mac and cheese
Mac and cheese is a well-known dish if you’ve watched American TV series. In the USA, the dish is somewhat equivalent to pasta and sausages; a dish mainly for children that is quick and cheap to make.
I think it is fantastic as a base for additional ingredients, but it can also be enjoyed on its own (especially by children).
Typically, the dish is made from a packet of powder and small stick pasta (macaroni) which is heated and mixed with butter or milk.
Here is my recipe, which is based on a roux and cheddar.

Ingredients
- 400 gram Pasta Preferably macaroni or other small pieces
- 500 gram Milk
- 50 gram Butter
- 200 gram Cheddar cheese
- 16 gram Wheat Flour
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cayenne Pepper
Instructions
- Boil the pasta in plenty of water according to the instructions on the package.
- Melt butter in a large pan and whisk in flour until it has the consistency of a dough.
- Slowly stir in the milk. If the milk is cold, give it 30 seconds in the microwave to prevent curdling. Cook for 5 minutes until the consistency thickens.
- Add the spices and stir well. Turn off the heat and add the cheese, stirring continuously.
- Finally, add the cooked pasta and mix it well.
- Should be served immediately.
