
Recipe for mac and cheese deluxe
The classic American dish Mac and Cheese is perhaps not something most people associate with a great gastronomic experience. But the dish is quick, easy, and cheap, and the kids love it – a success criterion in any family with children!
The original recipe for Mac and Cheese consists of very few ingredients, but by adding a few delicious flavor enhancers – bacon, broccoli, and pan-fried mushrooms – it is possible to elevate the dish to new heights that even adults can enjoy.

Mac and cheese deluxe
Ingredients
- 400 gram Pasta in quarters
- 1 pcs. Broccoli in cubes
- 250 gram Mushroom
- 1 package Bacon
- 0.5 l Milk
- 50 gram Butter
- 200 gram Cheddar cheese
- 16 gram Wheat Flour
- Spices salt and pepper
- Cayenne Pepper can be omitted
- Butter for frying
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package.
- Melt the butter in a pot. Add the flour and whisk together until you have a lump of butter and flour.
- Add the milk little by little. Whisk well until the sauce is smooth and lump-free. Cook for 5 minutes until the consistency thickens.
- Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and optionally cayenne pepper (just a bit, it's strong). Turn off the heat and add cheese while stirring.
- Boil the broccoli florets in lightly salted water for 2-3 minutes.
- Fry the quartered mushrooms and bacon cubes in a pan (add a bit of fat if necessary) until golden and crispy.
- Mix the cooked pasta with bacon, mushrooms, and broccoli. Stir in the cheese sauce and mix everything well.
- Serve immediately!
