Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 600 gram Cod Or another white fish, e.g., pangasius fillet, pollock, or hake fillet
  • 1 pcs. Egg
  • Wheat Flour
  • Grate
  • Spices paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper
  • Oil for deep-frying

Instructions

  • Rinse and dry the fish and cut it into nugget-sized pieces.
  • Beat the egg in a deep plate.
  • Take two large, flat plates. Pour flour onto one plate and breadcrumbs mixed with cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper onto the other.
  • Coat the fish pieces in flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in the spiced breadcrumbs. Place the finished coated fish pieces on a plate.
  • Heat a pot with oil for deep-frying. The oil should be 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) hot when you deep-fry the fish.
  • Fry the fish pieces in the oil - not too many at a time - until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Let the finished fish nuggets drain on absorbent paper.
  • Serve the homemade fish nuggets with homemade oven-baked French fries and homemade Sauce Tartare.

Notes

If you don’t want to deep-fry your fish nuggets, you can bake them instead. The result is slightly different but still super delicious and less greasy.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) (fan-forced) and place your nuggets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Put the tray in the oven and bake them for about 20 minutes. You may want to turn them once during baking.
