This fish burger is inspired by the classic fast food favorite, but with a homemade twist that makes it both fresher and more flavorful. We start by breading cod fillets in crispy panko and frying them to perfection. Then we assemble the burger with fresh lettuce, melted cheddar cheese, and a homemade tartar sauce that adds the perfect tangy kick. Equipment

  • 1 Deep fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 pcs. Cod Fillet
  • 2 dl Panko
  • 2 pcs. Egg
  • 100 gram Wheat Flour
  • 1 handful Chives
  • 1 handful Cornichons
  • 2 tsp. Sweet mustard
  • 100 gram Mayonnaise
  • 100 gram Sour Cream
  • 1 liters Rapeseed Oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

Tartar Sauce:

  • Finely chop chives and cornichons.
  • Mix chives, cornichons, mustard, mayonnaise, crème fraîche, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Whisk together and set aside.

Fish:

  • Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko.
  • Heat rapeseed oil in a pot until it reaches 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Dip the cod fillets first in flour, then in the egg, and finally in panko.
  • Fry the fillets in the oil until they are golden and crispy.

Buns:

  • Slice the brioche buns and toast them in butter on a pan over medium heat.
  • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each bun and heat them in the oven at 150 degrees Celsius (302 degrees Fahrenheit) until the cheese is melted.

Assembly:

  • Spread tartar sauce on both sides of the buns.
  • Place the crispy fried fish on the bottom bun with cheese.
  • Add fresh lettuce and place the top bun on.
  • Serve your homemade Filet O' Fish immediately and enjoy a delicious, fresh, and crispy fish burger!
