Although we love to challenge ourselves with new taste experiences and creative cooking, it doesn’t always have to be at the top of gastronomy.
Today, we will present an exciting recipe for a frankfurter that is hollowed out, filled with cheese, wrapped in bacon, then dipped in a delicious beer batter and deep-fried. The recipe comes from my time as a development student in Georgia. The snack was made with my Texan study buddy Cory and was eaten while watching sports or a TV series.
We are sure that this recipe will become a favorite among everyone who loves a good, crispy, and juicy frankfurter with lots of flavor and texture. So let’s get started and discover how to make this delicious dish!

Deep-fried sausage with cheese and bacon
Equipment
- 1 Deep fryer
Ingredients
- 4 pcs. Sausages large - preferably frankfurter or bockwurst
- Cheddar cheese can be substituted with Easy Cheese
- 1 package Bacon
Beer Dough
- 125 gram Wheat Flour
- 3 gram Coarse salt
- 14 gram Butter melted
- 100 gram Water
- 100 gram Beer
- 14 gram Vodka
- 1 pcs. Egg White
Other Than That
- 644 gram Oil neutral, for deep frying
- Ketchup
Instructions
- Pour the oil into a (deep fryer) pot and heat it up to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Start by hollowing out the sausages, making room for plenty of cheese inside them. You can use an apple corer, or cut down the middle lengthwise and then scrape out the meat with a small spoon.
- Fill the holes with cheese.
- Place bacon on a cutting board and position the sausages on it.
- Wrap bacon around the sausage so it is covered all over.
Beer Batter
- Put flour and salt into a bowl and mix them together.
- Melt the butter, for example in the microwave.
- Pour beer, water, vodka, and melted butter into the bowl with the flour and salt.
- Mix everything thoroughly until there are no more lumps in the batter.
- Chill the batter for at least 1 hour before using it.
- Whisk the egg whites until stiff.
- Fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the batter just before use. The batter is now ready to use.
Breading and Frying
- Dip the bacon/cheese sausage into the beer batter, ensuring it's completely covered.
- Place it in the hot oil and repeat with the other sausages.
- The sausage meat is cooked, so it is only about getting it crispy on the outside, and melting the cheese inside. It takes a few minutes.
- Remove them from the hot oil and place them on paper towels to drain the excess oil.
- Sprinkle salt on top and enjoy them with ketchup.
- Bon appétit.
