
Recipe for butter chicken
Have you ever been to an Indian restaurant, you have undoubtedly encountered the classic Indian dish butter chicken.
This dish has become a big hit outside its homeland as well, and once you’ve tasted it, it’s not hard to understand why: it simply tastes wonderful! It is easy to make, and the numerous spices give the dish flavor and body, while the yogurt in the marinade ensures it doesn’t become too spicy.
Serve with cooked basmati rice, naan bread, and a delicious, crispy salad.

Butter chicken
Ingredients
- 100 gram Yogurt natural
- 4.8 gram Chili Flakes
- 3 pcs. Cardamom whole pods, ground - alternatively, you can use 1 tsp ground cardamom.
- 1 gram Cloves ground
- 7 gram Garam Masala
- 4.2 gram Cumin
- 1 pcs. Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 12 gram Fresh ginger finely grated
- 3.6 gram Turmeric
- 1 can Tomato peeled and chopped
- 500 gram Chicken Breast
- 50 gram Butter
- 28 gram Oil
- 100 gram Cream
- Spices salt and pepper
- 1 bunch Cilantro chopped
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breasts into cubes and place them in a bowl.
- Pour yogurt, chili flakes, cloves, cumin, cardamom, turmeric, grated ginger, garam masala, crushed garlic, and peeled tomatoes into a blender.
- Blend the ingredients until smooth and without lumps.
- Pour the yogurt sauce over the chicken, cover the bowl, and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour (preferably 2-3 hours or overnight).
- Heat the oil in a sauté pan.
- When the oil is hot, add the butter.
- Sauté the onions until they are translucent.
- Add the chicken and yogurt sauce, as well as the cream.
- Let the dish simmer over low heat for 35 minutes.
- Just before serving, sprinkle with fresh coriander.
- Enjoy butter chicken with cooked basmati rice, naan bread, and a crispy salad.
