Cola Spareribs is a slightly different way to prepare spareribs. The idea is that the cola will help to tenderize the meat while also adding flavor to the sauce.
I usually use ribs, which are true spareribs, but you can easily use baby back ribs, known as Baby Back Ribs in the original language.
You will need:
- 1-1.5 kg spareribs or baby back ribs.
- 1.5 liters of cola with sugar.
- Spice mix of your choice. If you make a rub yourself, avoid sugar – there’s plenty in the cola.
- Roasting dish or pot.
- Two small cans of tomato paste or one large can.
Method – Part 1
Trim the ribs of sinews and membranes, give them a good dose of spices/rub and let them rest in the fridge for an hour.
