Recipe for phyllo dough basket
What is phyllo dough? Phyllo dough consists of very thin sheets of dough made from flour, salt, water, and starch. We use it to make our own homemade shells for luxury tartlets. See the recipe here.

Ingredients
- 0.5 package Filo Pastry
- 20 gram Butter
Instructions
- Start by melting the butter (we usually do it in a mug in the microwave) and preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (347 degrees Fahrenheit).
- There are typically 8 sheets in one package, and you will need 4 sheets for this recipe.
- Cut each sheet into 6 equal squares and brush all 24 squares with the melted butter.
- You will need 4 squares of phyllo dough per tart shell. Layer the 4 pieces on top of each other to create a star shape.
- Grease 6 muffin tins with oil or butter and carefully place the shells into them.
- Place the tins in a baking tray and bake them until crispy, about 12 minutes.
- Let them cool and handle gently as they are quite fragile.
- They can, for example, be used as an alternative to tart shells. See this recipe for luxury tarts.
Notes
The shells can also be used as a starter; in that case, this portion is enough for 6 people instead.
